I’ve been working with @cattin_tsai. She provided me with the wireframe for the virtual creature, and we both used Blender to create this project.
Eleven months ago, I started collaborating with Cattin Tsai, a 3D artist from Beijing, China. In this creative process, I decided to create abstract figures from scratch, starting only with a circular model and then sculpting and shaping it. Concurrently, Cattin embarked on a similar creative journey, crafting a creature inspired by elements ranging from plants to marine life. Combining our creations, I opted for a Drain Gang style for the music, composing basslines infused with sidechain a music production technique. The process, from selecting textures to animating, adjusting camera angles, lighting, and crafting the music, was thoroughly enjoyable. Something fresh emerged from our collaboration: a fusion of our creativity and artistry. I am delighted to have connected with such an incredibly talented artist and to continue growing in the realm of 3D, a field I am deeply passionate about and continue to explore further.
Cattin Tsai, exploring diverse realms like digital art, installations, imagery, and gaming, draws deep creative inspiration from plants and marine life. Proficient at merging pan-biological art with commercial elements in her work, she created the virtual character INFNI+, featured as a guest editor on VOGUE’s cover. Preferring not to describe her creations with language, her recent works have been showcased in cities such as Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Venice, gaining recognition in subcultures and music scenes. In 2022, she held solo exhibitions titled Who Says Reality Isn’t Illusory and OXO. In 2023, she achieved recognition as a VOGUE FORCE OF FASHION DIGITAL FINALIST.
Thanks for watching.
